Love this lead off track here, but not much else. Brit group consisting of various artists was a much bigger act over there than in the states. A big thing on the dance club scene in the late 80's, this is their second album with that lead off being the big hit, reaching #3 in the UK but only #54 in the US and A Dream's A Dream at #6 UK. Losing the smooth vocals of Caron Wheeler after the first album, this was lacking in that respect. Jazzie B was the front man and only when he is on board to I get on board, which is very little on here.

Freeway is one of Jay-Z's sidekicks and now signed to his Cash Money label. Not sure about Jake One other than now he would be one of Freeways sidekicks. This is Freeways fifth album. A couple of really good tracks, but overall it doesn't hold up for me.

Louisiana native, now a Floridian. Label executive, producer, DJ and artist. He does it all. Out with his 4th album. Four singles already lined up. Fed Up came out in October with Put Your Hands Up, All I Do Is Win and Victory all lined up. Guests (what? you expected less?) include Usher, Drake, Plies, Young Jeezy and Rick Ross (dude, you gotta get a cool name), plus a cast of thousands. There were a couple of tracks I could handle, but as usual, not for me.

Illinois rappers Jabari Evans and Michael Aguilar met in 2000 at a talent show and decided they were a match. This is their third release. Heavy on the samples and featured artists (every track but 4 of them). No comment that I haven't already made in other posts. Pretty bad listen for me. No surpise, but hey, I try. Funny, the only 2 tracks I like, there's no clip for. First single is Take Over The World.

Georgia born, former gospel singer Monica Arnold has already made her mark on the pop scene, being the youngest recording artist to have 2 consecutive #1 hits on the r&b charts, at the age of 15 in 1995. Now, 5 albums later, she also has a reality show series on BET to add to her resume. With 4 years since the last release, the fans have certainly been patient, as this will certainly top the charts agin. First single is Everything To Me. Only one track appeals to me, with the majority carrying that vibrato stuff all over the place, like most r&b singers of the day. Take a one syllable word and carry it to 10 different octaves.

Aesop Rock - Labour

Concentrates on the best era of her career, between '60 & the early '70s.

Etta James had one of the best voices around, and could sound as smooth as silk, and as rough as sandpaper, often in the same syllable. This disc straddles the divide between R&B and Soul, and there's hardly a duff track to be found.
