It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown..............................Chris Simpson ( "Mixed Up Sensations" 1975 Martin's Cafe )

Have I really been theonly one to mention Mingus in this thread. All other albums bow to "Black Saint and the Sinner Lady", and his overall discography is easily one of the most consistent, as well as one of the most original. He towers above the likes of Miles Davis

I can't say enough about Jan Garbarek, Norwegian sax and flute player ! He is so versatile playing avant garde free jazz, bebop, mainstream jazz, folk, jazz fusion, classical, ambient and world music !
His tone and timbre on the soprano and tenor saxophone is unique and easily identifiable. A very talented artist who never gets enough recognition. He has released and collaborated with other artists on 70 albums.
I recommend Dresden a live concert that showcases his versatility in many genres !
The ultimate connection is between a performer and its' audience!
