Well since I dont write songs I will have to post faves from others, so here goes:

    Matchbox 20 – “3AM”
"She thinks that happiness is a mat that sits on her doorway"

    Sixx:A.M. - "Life Is Beautiful"
"There’s nothing like a trail of blood to find your way back home"

Collective Soul - “The World I know”
“All the words that I've been reading
Have now started the act of bleeding
    Into one.”

Rob Thomas - “I Am An Illusion”
    “I am the damage
    I am the relief
    Sometimes I'm people
I never hoped that I would be”

    Aerosmith - “Fever”
“The buzz that you be gettin’ from the crack don’t last
I’d rather be OD’ing on the crack of her ass”

Aaahhhh .. classic Aerosmith lyrics!!! LMAO!!!
Live your life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning, Satan shudders & says ...
    'Oh shit....she's awake!!'

Unless you want to hear a poem I recently wrote about a tree (you don't), these are some lyrics that come to mind (I seem to have edited the happy out, though)

And over there there's broken bones
There's only music, so that there's new ringtones
A Certain Romance – Arctic Monkeys

    It doesn't matter
    If this all shatters
    Nothing lasts forever
It doesn’t matter – Depeche Mode

For all of our languages we can't communicate,
For all of our native tongues, we're all natives here
The scars of the past are slow to disappear
The cries of the dead are always in our ears
And only the very safe can talk about wrong and right
    Natives – Christy Moore

    Let me save us
I've slaughtered us, I've murdered our love
    Earthquake – The Used

    I need a Mars Bar
    Hey , raid the Spar
    Mars Bar – The Undertones

My favourite songwriters of all time were Rodgers & Hart
with Richard Rogers supplying the music to Lorenz (Larry) Hart's words.
The words and the melodies were always brilliant and one of mine and Shirley's favourites was (I'll take) Manhattan - the words of which follow.

    Summer journeys
    To Niag'ra
    And to other places
    Aggravate all our cares.
    We'll save our fares.
    I've a cozy little flat
In what is known as old Manhattan.
    We'll settle down
    Right here in town.

    We'll have Manhattan,
    The Bronx and Staten
    Island too.
    It's lovely going through
    The zoo.
    It's very fancy
    On old Delancey
    Street, you know.
    The subway charms us so
    When balmy breezes blow
    To and fro.
    And tell me what street
    Compares with Mott Street
    In July?
    Sweet pushcarts gently gliding by.
The great big city's a wondrous toy
Just made for a girl and boy.
    We'll turn Manhattan
    Into an isle of joy.

    We'll go to Greenwich,
    Where modern men itch
    To be free;
    And Bowling Green you'll see
    With me.
    We'll bathe at Brighton
    The fish you'll frighten
    When you're in.
    Your bathing suit so thin
    Will make the shellfish grin
    Fin to fin.
    I'd like to take a
    Sail on Jamaica
    Bay with you.
    And fair Canarsie's lake
    We'll view.
    The city's bustle cannot destroy
The dreams of a girl and boy.
    We'll turn Manhattan
    Into an isle of joy.

    We'll go to Yonkers
    Where true love conquers
    In the wilds.
    And starve together, dear,
    In Childs'.
    We'll go to Coney
    And eat baloney
    On a roll.
    In Central Park we'll stroll,
Where our first kiss we stole,
    Soul to soul.
    Our future babies
    We'll take to "Abie's
    Irish Rose."
I hope they'll live to see
    It close.
The city's clamor can never spoil
The dreams of a boy and goil.
    We'll turn Manhattan
    Into an isle of joy.

    We'll have Manhattan,
    The Bronx and Staten
    Island too.
    We'll try to cross'
    Fifth Avenue.
    As black as onyx
    We'll find the Bronnix
    Park Express.
    Our Flatbush flat, I guess,
    Will be a great success,
    More or less.
    A short vacation
    On Inspiration Point
    We'll spend,
And in the station house we'll end,
    But Civic Virtue cannot destroy
The dreams of a girl and boy.
    We'll turn Manhattan
    Into an isle of joy!

Among their other compositions were The Lady Is A Tramp, My Romance, Mountain Greenery, Thou Swell, There's A Small Hotel, Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered and the list goes ever on.
