Joe McElderry has beaten Olly Murs to win 2009's X Factor.
The 18-year-old, who has won a £1million recording contract, will now release his version of 'The Climb', originally performed by Miley Cyrus, tomorrow.
Acts including Sir Paul McCartney and George Michael performed on the two-hour finale, along with show contestants including Olly Murs and Stacey Solomon.
McElderry is likely to get this year's Christmas Number One, but is up against competition from Rage Against The Machine's 1992 track 'Killing In The Name', after an internet campaign rose up to get the song to the top spot in defiance against Simon Cowell and The X Factor's dominance of the seasonal charts.
The singer was mentored by Girls Aloud's Cheryl Cole, making this the second year in a row that Cole has worked with the eventual winner.
