Default Kansas - The Prelude Implicit

enters the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart this week at #41

    Spotify spin

    first album in 16 years
was a fan back in the day
best album for me was Leftoverture and worst was Power
new vocalist now of Ronnie Platt replacing Steve Walsh
this guys no Walsh but he does pass the audition
no new sound here, just the good Kansas sound

    hey, where's Jerome
what did you guys do to him?

I recall in one of his last posts he said he was going to "bury myself in the studio for a day"

I listened to this the other day – all I can say is it reminded me of Kansas, lol!!
It’s Point of Know Return for me.
This is perfectly well done, but it didn’t make a big impression … pity.
The cover art is pretty cool - I thought it was a ‘lightning bird’ at first, but think it’s intended to be a phoenix.

Kansas at their absolute peak is the double live album 'Two For The Show' - the new CD edition contains some great additional tracks.

Twenty years ago this clip would have blown me away.

On an objective level, the song is very good - more for the instrumentation rather than the melody in the vocals. I think I've heard so much prog in recent years, especially the "new prog" from people like Anathema, that this song does not have the impact on me it would once have had.

Let's get this in perspective though - the album is on the Billboard charts, and it's a hundred times better than most of what's on the charts. More power to Kansas and others still making real music.

im not a big an of Kansas but I agree with the comment Bob_32 about the "real musicians" still being able to sell their music and the fact its better than most things currently on the charts.
    it keeps "real music" alive!

first thing I thought when I initially read the post was "cool cover art", I assumed from the get-go it was a Phoenix (as in 'the band rising once again, and not from any ashes)
