Does Music, in all its forms, proove that god exists?
If "no" then why not?
If "yes" then how and why?
I know, its a wierd question. I Just thought it would be interesting discussion to try and type about.

Good question !!
I'll start by saying that I'm not a believer.
I don't think that the existence of music proves anything concerning the big man. Music is a human abstract creation. Sound, like many other natural phenomena has an uncannily mathematical heart. But mathematics is just another abstract creation.
I don't think God has anything to do with the existence of music, but if he did, i'd probably feel pretty impressed.
BTW I've just started reading the Bible (Start to finish), so if I find any clues, I'll let you know....
Interesting. With science as it stands, it almost proves that at least our bodies have evolved into what we are today, as we still retain so many animal instincts and body parts similar to animals. Yet we are able to think, reason, and problem solve. Plus we love music. This is a tough question 'Syn'. But good one.
A follow-up question for people to answer is; Do animals enjoy the arts, I.E Music?
My answer would be, maybe they like the sounds but they are not able the ability to produce anything original.
That's a complicated question for me. At first I didn't see a connection and didn't see how music proves anything of God's existence. But then I thought how singing, and making music of any sort, is one of the most spiritual things you can do. And spirituality leads to religion (sometimes). In many religions it is better to sing a prayer rather than say it.
For me, music proves we have a soul. But it doesn't necessarily prove the existence of a higher power. Or rather a particular higher power.
I have thought about this for a long time, while at work mainly.
My logic tells me that ALL people like music, some love certain type and hate other types (sounds like organised religion), but regardless everyone enjoys some form of music.
My logic then took me down the path of thinking "why?". why does music have such a profound affect on every person?, the even the deaf.
Useing the evolution of man from apes, as a basis, what made the early evolving humans think that the beign made when the struck somthing was good? They had no concept of sound waves, no idea to the mathmatics and science behind it
What is it that makes people enjoy these strange and complex movements of air?
Its a big leap I know, but I cant not for the life of me what makes sounds waves affect people, if your soul enjoys it does this mean that everyone has a soul? and that regardless of religion, race or sexual preferance all souls are touched by the same force held within all forms of music?
Some people describe "god" as a force, an essance if you will. What if the same thing that allows everyones soul to be touched by music is the same thing that started of the big bang?
If god dose exist in our souls, and in the music that touches us does this mean that organised religion is wrong? in the hope and pain that it brings?
You could even speculate you worship "god" everytime you listen to music that you enjoy......
Wow took a while to type that (and didnt get cought by my boss)
P.S many apoligise for the many spelling errors, and terrible grammer

Very Good topic
I think this question stems back to the ultimate question 'The meaning of life?'. I will break down the topic to sub questions.
Why do we like sound waves (music)?
This is my feeling. I think that music creates a emotion (mood if you like), it helps you to remember events, people etc. But also it helps to make you dream. For me, I listen to dramatic classical music and sometimes dream think about being a hero soldier (man, my secret is out now).
Has god got anything to do with this?
This will various from person to person based on religous views. I need to think further how I will answer this one. Give me some time....
WOW! This is a great question and nice to see a lot of discussion on the topic. Firstly, I am a proud Christian, now here is my take on the question:
We all have the right to believe whether God exists or not. This, as Anthony said, will vary from person to person.
As for the music, I take the following opinion. Lyrics are written by man, but inspired by God. Music lyrics, for many artists (not all) are written from the heart. Music reflects personal experience for many (not all). I would say that God does inspire music but it is man who decides and really makes it. Hope this makes sense to all.
I would love to hear a response from someone who doesn't believe in God... But we need to agree not to get offended by any comments we don't agree in. Instead a damn good discussion.
That is one of the things i was worried about when i posted this topic.....there some very norrow minded people out there
I'm thinking the same thing. What makes some music make a person feel good or bad? Some of that has to do with the individual, but I think a great deal of it is science. For example: if an instrument is in tune it sounds "right". Is that a learned response? I bet there is research out there on this topic. Sound, peer-reviewed experiments. But its 1AM and I don't feel like looking around.
