Neil Young's 2009 album "fork in the road" is a concept album based around his own love of cars
and inparticular his development of bio-fuel technology....
he drove his own Lincoln from California to Washington DC on bio-fuel to prove to Congress that it was possible
use vehicles that dont use fossil fuel.

here's on from that album: audio link

Surprised no-one has mentioned 'Baby You Can Drive My Car'

My favourite - Silver Thunderbird by Mark Cohen.

'Don't you give me no Buick
Son you must take my word
If there's a God up in heaven
    He's got a Silver Thunderbird'
'The purpose of life is a life of purpose' - Athena Orchard.

Taking this convo in a slightly different direction: 2 great musicians who are (or were) ga-ga about cars--J Geils and Danny Gatton. 1 has, 1 had terrif collections in which their mitts got dirty.
Nothing similar for Mr. Gatton but for those unfamiliar--he was invited to play on a Joey DeFrancesco B-3 soul-jazz recording. "Relentless". Here's one from it: but then:

    And now--"From a Buick 6":
The original stereo version:: << why folks haunt thrift shops, scouting the vinyl

A man accustomed to hear only the echo of his own sentiments, soon bars all the common avenues of delight, and has no part in the general gratification of mankind--Dr. Johnson
