I want to share one of my greatest fantasy about music.
Imagine a band you love and possess all the albums: you know all of them by heart. Maybe the band is dead, or their new albums are not as great as their old ones. You sometimes wish you could "forget" an album and rediscover it just to have this incredible feeling again of discovering a new, good album from this band.
Then, imagine a band that, on purpose, record a whole album in their best times, but never release it, never talk about it, nobody knows it's existence.
So they continue their career normally, doing new albums. When they break up, or simply stop doing music, they announce that they have a last, new album. So everybody is exited about this announcement.
After listening to it, you tell yourself "how the hell they did that, this album is so great, it almost sound as if it was a good old album". And this is...true. After reading carefully the booklet, you realize the album was recorded many years ago when they were at their top.
What a great surprise it would be.
But to my knowledge, no band ever did something like that on purpose, just to give a gift to their fans.
For example, imagine Metallica announce there was an album recorded with the old bassist Cliff Burton between Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets...I think every fans would freak out.
So I hope some of you enjoyed this fantasy as much as I do!
