In a little while (couple of minutes or so) you will be able to sample my project as it stands at the moment. 2 of the 10 tracks are not included here as they need a bit more tweaking and maybe some parts need to be re-recorded. The sound file is embedded in the site which means that you will not be able to download it as such, but anyone with a bit of PC savvy will know a way around this anyway. I will make the project available for download once I have the last few tracks wrapped up. For those of you who do not like the following - Mike Oldfield, Vangelis, Pink Floyd, Eno or Jean Michel Jarre or instrumental music, I suggest you do not waste your time as you will not find this of any benefit. To anyone else who feels like taking the time to listen to the whole thing (about 50 minutes long), please feel free to pull it apart and tell me what you really think, not what you think I would like to hear. Apologies for the fact that you cannot scroll though the project at this point but you will be able to once it's done. It's an eclectic project - a combination of electronica, real and sampled ethnic instruments, guitar, piano, drums & plenty of sound effects, synths, soundscapes (both real and sampled) and general mayhem and confusion. I could not begin to tell you what 'genre' it fits into as it really is a mix of styles and influences. If you find you like it and would like a copy once the damn thing is finished please mail email@example.com and leave me a physical address to send the disc to. I am giving away 100 copies - first come first served. Once you land on this page http://www.auralscapes.com the piece will start playing automatically. If you hear stuttering/glitches etc. it's probably because too many people are trying to listen at the same time, so you will have to try later. If you are going to submit yourself to the torture of sitting through the whole thing I suggest you open a second browser while you listen to it otherwise you will have to start from the beginning again as you cannot pick a particular part in the project at this stage. Any comments, mudslinging, name-calling most welcome. I call something the way I see it - you should do the same. Most importantly I am trying to get an idea of how this translates to different systems. i.e. do you hear too much bass, is it too shrill etc. etc. Most of this project has been completed while using headphones so that's probably the best way to listen to it but I would be very interested if anyone is using different speaker setups etc. and what your reaction to the material is. When you work on a project for any length of time you lose all perspective so it helps if other parties give you their opinion/critique/advice. Expect the unexpected. File is now up.
