Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass - The Lonely Bull - 1962 - *



Considering all the horns, started to stick this in the metal thread, but I'm too new. Herb is also co-founder of A&M Records, but made his name with instrumentals with the band. Quite a success considering the times being what they were., 5 #1's, 28 albums, 8 grammys. This is their debut album containing the track that started it all. The Lonely Bull was a hit and is the lone standout on here for me. Love the mariachi sound overall, but after the 2 rating tracks, it's just elevator music.

Go Go's - Vacation - 1982 - *



Formed in 1978 in L.A. this is their second album. Quite a fall from their debut Beauty And The Beat to me. The catchy title track is by far the standout and all it takes for success is 1 hit. As far as the remake of Cool Jerk, please spare me. I included the original by The Capitols.

Don't ask. Ok fine, I'll tell ya. This guy I used to work with came over to my desk. He said I'll trade you the worst cd I have for the worst cd you have. Had no idea what I was going to get. Gave him my KC and the Sunshine Band Greatest Hits someone else had dumped on me. I think he got the better deal. This is my story and I'm stickin' to it. This group is a Danish pop band formed in 1989, who hit the big time with this album and the single Barbie Girl. They split in 2001, but not before selling 33 million albums. But don't panic. They're on a reunion tour. Three #1 singles off this album in the UK, but I think only Barbie Girl made it in the States.

Daryl Hall/John Oates - Private Eyes - 1981 - **



Pop duo that reached their peak with this, their 10th studio album. Two #1 singles off here, Private Eyes and I Can't Go For That (No Can Do), which also was a crossover hit to the R&B charts. Didn't get that, but whatever. The album reached #5 US and #8 UK. Last release was 2006 and their still at it.

Some men that are looking for a good sign with their private eyes, while they are trying to keep their head above water during an unguarded minute, insist that I can't go for that. Just last week, friday let me down, while you in your imagination hope you can tell me what you want during your mano a mano phase that thinks you did it in a minute.

Internet sensation. Too bad it couldn't stay there. Pretty much most of what I dislike about pop music, and I can't even describe what that is. After awhile it just all blurs together. But hey, that's just me. I imagine there will be some big hits off of here with a little sexy video help. This is her 2nd studio album plus 1 Japanese. She is half. First album was acoustic material but full blown pop production here. First single, Avalanche was released back in April. An actual video on track #6, the rest are just audio.

It shoulda been simple to make love with a stranger and to know you by heart, so if you can just come find me, I'm sure we can score a symphony, and upon the arrival of daybreak we could be breathing underwater. Of course I feel that if we don't go overboard and create an avalanche, we could do even crazier things, which will make you come to life like a well oiled machine.

Not too bad for an all girl band. Obviously geared to a teeny-bop audience, they are signed to Disney. A little Jonas Brothers competition. Not a bad Cheap Trick cover. Some of those vids are terrible audio, but I like to get some live performances when they are there. I liked it.

Half of Hall & Oates. That would be the first half. The brightest part of this album is probably that Robert Fripp produced. That fact didn't help. The material is just weak. His second solo album that did contain the top 5 single Dreamtime, which is the leadoff track, but it was downhill from there. Foolish Pride was also a single.
I did not like the album.

I'm sure that's what I thought when the album came out.
No liner notes as to the collaboration.
Being a huge Crimson fan, I'm sure it caught my eye at the time.
