Son of Carlos. Can you guess what instrument he plays? Not sure where to put him, but here I am. Has been penetrating the Latin market with previous work. Yet to see where this goes. A poppy feel with jazz/funk/electronic undertones. Even hip-hop. I do like the horns, when used. Some of that vocoder crap I can't stand. Some tracks geared for the dance floor no doubt. Given some airplay, I can see this taking off.

Lesley burst on the scene at age 16 in 1963 with It's My Party, with this much merited hits collection a mere 2 years later. That very first hit went to #1. I was glad to hear her get revenge with Judy's Turn To Cry. None of these boy love songs hold true now, as Lesley came out of the closet some years ago. Her early hits were produced by none other than the legendary Quincy Jones. Although her career fizzled out as fast as it started, she certainly had an impact on the girl group sound of that era, one of the few that Phil Spector had no involvement with. She still recorded for some years after this, but never got that flame lit again.

Where to stick this? I don't know. Christian rap/rock. So here it is. First in the group DC Talk which I remember one of my daughters liking. This is his fourth solo album and it wasn't as bad as I expected, barely making the like category. First single of City On Our Knees has been out for a while, made #1 on the christian charts and is pretty good for me. Second anf third singles of Showstopper and Get Back Up.

I guess these guys were pretty big at the time, more so in the U.K. I think. Formed in London in 1979 they had some hits and this is their fourth album, the follow up to their biggest seller, True. This one didn't fare as well, although the single of Only When You leave did reach #4 in the U.K. but only made it to #34 in the states. Didn't care for it at all. I'll Fly For You was also a single and made it to #9 in the U.K. and was slightly better for me. The album reached #50 in the U.S. The group split in 1989, but I heard they have recently reformed. Must be broke.

Victoria Christina Hesketh, stage name Little Boots, Britians next pop star. She hopes so anyway. Debut album, which came out last June over there, but just coming out in the states. Claims influences to be Britney Spears and, are you ready, Pink Floyd. I couldn't find the Floyd in any of this, but quite a bit of Britney. I guess the next album will be the Floyd. This one reached #5 in the U.K. with singles of New In Town and Remedy.

Tim's parents on the album cover. Novelty act of course and yet he could play it serious also. After the success of Tiptoe Through The Tulips, how could he follow that up? Not very well is the answer as this album would indicate. Still he went on to a long career of around 15 studio albums and became a household name. Tiny grew up listening to the vaudeville recording of his father such as Rudy Vallee and Al Jolson and carried it to a new level, developing a cult following. His appearance on Laugh In instigated his rise to fame. Tiny tiptoed away in 1996 of a heart attack. For a trip check out that Ed Sullivan performance of Great Balls Of Fire, which cracked the charts at #85. This album doesn't measure up to his debut but is still ok for me.

Not sure what these guys are. Heard of them before but never listened to them. Not stricly disco as the name implies, but a lot of pop/dance material here. Philadelphia club band that has been around since 1995, and this is their 8th album. They have a big enough following to headline their own summer festival called Camp Bisco. Some decent stuff here but overall just misses my radar.
