Another transplanted New Yorker rises up from that hard knock life. With some help of course from Puff Daddy and their ilk. Not to say the success isn't deserved. This is probably the first of her albums I have listened to and it wasn't that bad. Her ninth and they usually top the charts. Still yet to see on this one. The first single of The One was released a while back and didn't do that well, only reaching #63. The next single, I Am has just come out, but sure wasn't a hit for me, although better than the first one. Two really good tracks for me but anything I like never gets mentioned as a single. Overall this just makes a passing grade. Guests of T.I., Drake and Trey Songz.

The remastered new version, not the crappy original U.S. version which I have on vinyl. It was only about half beatles songs and the rest orchestral rubbish from the movie. Half of these songs here are not from the movie and appeared on later U.S. releases. Only 2 covers here of Ringos Act Naturally and the classic Dizzy Miss Lizzy. Hard to pick a fav of course and likewise for a worst.
Had to settle on Act Naturally because I was already a fan of the Buck Owens version and Ringos voice just doesn't do it for me. Sorry David Broad. Actually it was a close call between that and Yesterday, which I was never crazy about and did not think of it as a Beatles song. It's a Paul song.

Ah! a new year, and the first album. And a chance to revamp my ratings system, in order to get a more varied scale for ranking purposes. May as well start at the bottom so there is nowhere to go but up. Kesha, no I'm not calling here Ke$ha out with debut album after the single of Tik Tok has been out since August and made waves across the continents. Catchy little number and of course it had to grow on me, getting the highest rating on the album. Singles written all over this album. Not sure what is next but it's a grab bag. Hitting the ground running as they say. Will she be a 1 hit wonder or will we wonder how she ever had a hit, or maybe both? I'm sure most of this material would be much more fun to watch than to listen to, as I saw her on one of the late nights just last night. All the right dance moves, and the sexy outfit. But I meander.

Californian American Idol season 5 runner up out with her 2nd album, after her first earns gold status in 2008 and debuting at #2. This one has debuted at #27 on the U.S. charts with the first single of Had It All. That was actually released in August. Singles 2,3 and 4 have already been released for i-tunes, but not to radio. I don't even know how the singles market works anymore. Unlike her first album, Katherine gets a share of the writing credits on most of these. Not to fond of the Melanie remake of Brand New Key, but I've heard worse.
