Default Can't identify this caribbean style instrumental recorded in 1989

You can hear the mp3 here:

zSHARE - La La La De Yay Yeh song .mp3

Anyone have any ideas? I recorded it to cassette off a jazz/new age radio station signal back in 1989. I've got several others I want to identify but thought I'ld just start with one. Don't know why radio station DJ's play songs and don't tell who the artist is till after five other songs have played.

New here and hoping to join the community. Thanks for your help.

    Sorry I don't know this.

You make me think...sometimes I wonder if in the future there will be a technology capable of recognizing a song you play. You know, like voice recognition.

Imagine a big database of nearly all music, you send your extract of maybe 30 seconds and the machine tells you what it is. I've dreamed of that a lot of times.

I hope someone will find it for you.

    I already identified it.

Emailed a radio DJ from the station I recorded this from and he indicated that the name of the song is "Alegre Menina" and the vocalist is Brazilian guitarist Dori Caymmi.

Now I had an even harder time finding this exact recording after finding this out because Dori or his publishers changed the name of the song for that particular studio recording to Gabriela's Song off his self titled 1989 album. He has quite a few self titled albums so I lucked out.

And you wonder why the music industry is having problems.

BTW there is music software that allows you to play a song on your computer and find it by sound over the web, no lyrics needed. It's called "Tunatic".

The best site I found that finds by lyrics is Zworks.com. I've identified over 5 songs so far off this 1989 recording using both technologies.

Do you realize what you've done?

I was not aware of that Tunatic software.

You just made me do a jump in the future. Seriously; I was dreaming of something like that and you just proved me it already exist. That's incredible!

Only one thing I can say: Thanks.

I tested it and apart from few exceptions, it works like a charm. And on the FAQ page of Tunatic, there are a lots of links to other software that also recognize if you sing it of hum it or even tap it with your keyboard.

So man, you just changed my musical world. Thanks again.

I think Verizon has something like this for their phones. Play the song, it gives you the info.

Your kidding. Like an application you can download and install on your iphone? How does it work? Surely with all the different music out there it would be a HUGE program.
    With Regards...
