Unless you want to hear a poem I recently wrote about a tree (you don't), these are some lyrics that come to mind (I seem to have edited the happy out, though)

And over there there's broken bones
There's only music, so that there's new ringtones
A Certain Romance – Arctic Monkeys

    It doesn't matter
    If this all shatters
    Nothing lasts forever
It doesn’t matter – Depeche Mode

For all of our languages we can't communicate,
For all of our native tongues, we're all natives here
The scars of the past are slow to disappear
The cries of the dead are always in our ears
And only the very safe can talk about wrong and right
    Natives – Christy Moore

    Let me save us
I've slaughtered us, I've murdered our love
    Earthquake – The Used

    I need a Mars Bar
    Hey , raid the Spar
    Mars Bar – The Undertones
so you have written these yourself?? wow thats some talent man!

Alright, here are mine. I love the lyrics to the songs as a whole, but I'll quote my favorite parts.

    1. Megadeth - In My Darkest Hour
    - "Alone I call to ease the pain, yearning to be held by you. Alone, so alone I'm lost. Consumed by the pain. Pain, pain, pain, won't you hold me again? You just laughed. haha, b***h."

The guitar playing under this definitely supports the lyrics, specifically the last few words.
    2. Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
    - "Can you stand up? I do believe it's working good. That'll keep you going for the show. Come on, it's time to go."

    3. Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

    - "Mama, oooh, I don't wanna die. I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all."

Mercury's voice definitely contributes to this song. I wouldn't want to hear your average Joe singing it..

    4. Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name
    - "As the guards march me out to the courtyard, someone cries from a cell 'God be with you!' If there's a God, why has he let me go? As I walk, my life drifts before me. Though the end is near I'm not sorry. Catch my soul, it's willing to fly away."
Same as above. Dickinson shines with this one, if you ask me.

    5. Megadeth - Holy Wars...The Punishment Due

    - "They killed my wife and my baby with hopes to enslave me. First mistake - last mistake. Paid by the alliance to slay all the giants. Next mistake, no more mistakes."

    OR

    - "Next thing you know, they'll take my thoughts away."

mine all have some relevance in my life:

duality by bayside: You're the flame that burns me
so i know i'm still alive

newport living by cute is what we aim for: everyone's a let down it just deepens on how far down they can go
in every circle of friends there's a whore, the one who friends induct a little more
but who's to say this is a social scene anyway?

hello by evanescence (possibly the sadest song ever): hello, i'm not broken don't try to fix me.

    Default tough question...

    1. He had a lot to say/
He had a lot of nothing to say/
    We'll miss him.
    [Eulogy, by Tool]

    2. I find your note, the letters ran/
    It said "I loved you"/
And on your note is my reply/
    "I wish I loved you"
    [Molly, by Sponge]

    3. Will you remember that I tried my best?/
Will you remember the father I was?
[Swallowed By The Moon, by Novembers Doom]

    4. We can wash down this engagement ring/
    With poison and kerosene/
    We'll laugh as we die/
And we'll celebrate the end of things/
    With cheap champagne
[Drowning Lessons, by My Chemical Romance]

    5. Should it all come crashing down around me/
Would you be there should I stumble and fall/
    And pick up the pieces?
[Forever And Always, by Bullet For My Valentine]

Only some of my favorites =]

    Default My Top 5 Lyrics

I ain't a song writer so I don't know if this lyrics that I've chosen is good or not. These are the lyrics that I can relate with.

"We had the right love at the wrong time. Guess I always knew inside I wouldn't have you for a long time" - Somewhere Down the Road

"You bleed just to know you're alive" - Iris

"Let me hold you for the last time, it's the last chance to feel again" - Broken Strings

"I was born to tell you I love you and I am torn to do what I have to. To make you mine stay with me tonight" - Your Call

"We made plans to grow old. Believe me there was truth in all those stories that I told. Lost in a simple game, cat and mouse, to me the same people as before this came to light?" - Cat and Mouse

Top 5.. holy cow. That's extremely difficult seeing as my "favorites" are always subject to change. I'll look at more "recent" bands.

    For now I'll say:

    Innocence and ignorance;
it all goes hand in hand,
I'm not sure that I'm right,
    but I hope you understand.
I hope that you're still searching for the start that has no end,
and all the plastic people have now become your friends.
    "The Dream" -- Shinedown

Don't say I'm out of touch with this rampant chaos - your reality.
I know well what lies beyond my sleeping refuge:
the nightmare I built my own world to escape.
    "Imaginary" -- Evanescence

It never stops - you can't be everything to everyone.
Contagion, I'm sitting at the side of Satan.
What do you want from me?
They never told me the failure I was meant to be.

    "People = S**t" -- Slipknot

Summer move forward and stitch me the fabric of fall,
wrap life in the brilliance of death to humble us all.
    "Drought" -- Vienna Teng

And last, but not least, forgive me while I proceed to post an entire song. The entire thing truly is wonderful, at least in my opinion.

    International airport
    Waiting for my flight home
in a terminal filled with strangers I'll never get to know.
Weaving through one another, we chase the blue concourse signs
And with our cell phones and the daily news we draw our boundary lines.
The possibilities float like ghosts in this waiting room of idle hearts.

Dont be polite, just be real.
I want to know how you feel.
I want to find out who you are.
You'll never know the things you've missed
if you contemplate but never try,
To scale the walls outside your soul where even the bravest hide.

The chance is yours for the taking, and everything depends on
This transient moment that could turn strangers into friends.
The possibilities fill the air like a song played from far away.
    Full of stories, hopes, dreams,
and laced with insecurity, scars, and pain.
    The possibilities float like ghosts
And they're haunting my every thought.

So please tell me all your stories.
You can show me your scars.
And well celebrate just being here
    And being who we are.
Of all the love of all the friends
of all the things that could have been
If we had only let them in.
We'll never know the things we've missed if we never try
To let down our guard and let out who we are inside.

    "Flight 268" -- Foreverinmotion
"To me, 'all hope is gone' is a very positive thing to say because hope means expectations, and when you give up expectation, you embrace what’s going to happen."
    - Corey Taylor

    Cool

It would take me some serious time to find a top 5, however Bruce Springsteen's 'Thunder Road' would undoubtably be my first pick.

"There were ghosts in the eyes
Of all the boys you sent away
They haunt this dusty beach road
In the skeleton frames of burned out Chevrolets"

    Default Lets See

For Whom the Bell Tolls by Metallica:
Take a look to the sky just before you die. It's the last time you will.

    So Cold by Breaking Benjamin:
You're so cold keep your hand in mine. Wise men wonder while strong men die

The Warning by Nine Inch Nails:
Some say it was a warning. Some say it was a sign. I was standing right there. When it came down from the sky.

    Unknown Soldier by Breaking Benjamin:
Borderline. Dead inside. I don't mind falling to pieces.

    This Fire by Killswitch Engage:
Even through the darkest days this fire burns always
