    Default Best Live Blues Albums

I've bought a couple of superb live blues albums recently, and am thinking of getting a few more.

So which do you think are the best live blues albums you've heard ??

Not strictly blues, but draws on elements of that and funk, but Robert Randolph, Live at the Wetlands is one of the rawest, energtic albums I've heard.

    Right, I've investigated...

Pedal Steel Blues is a new one on me, but I have to say that I like it.
That'll be going onto the buy list,

    Cheers Rizzo.

I am generally not a fan of pedal steel because the way it is used in a lot of country music. Two people have however impressed me: robert randolph and lucky oceans.

    Glad you like it.

Great fan of Live recordings, I believe they used to sort the men from the boys, however from the 80's onwards studio effects wandered into view.

My recommendations are in no particular order

Van the Man - Too late to stop now
    Greatful Dead - Live/Dead
    Ry Cooder - Showtime
    Leon Russell - Leon Live
Al Kooper & Michael Bloomfield - Live Adventures (Filmore West)
Al Kooper & Michael Bloomfield - Lost Tapes (Filmore East)
Michael Bloomfield, Nick Gravenites & Friends - Filmore West
    The Band - Last Waltz
The Band - Live at Watkins Glen
Bob Dylan - The "Albert Hall" Concert
Muddy Waters et al, - Fathers and Sons
John Stewart - The Phoenix Concerts
    Bob Dylan - Rolling Thunder
The Who - Live at Leeds
Nils Lofgren - Night after Night
    Bruce Springsteen - Live 75 - 85
    Neil Young - Live Rust
    CSNY - 4 way street
Quicksilver Messenger Service - Happy Trails

    and many many more
