One of the original Seattle grunge bands. Splitting in 1997 over those pesky creative differences, there have recently been rumours of a reunion. This is their second album and they would not score big for a couple more, but this helped lay the groundwork. Not that great for me. First with a major label and last with original bassist Hiro Yamamoto, who would leave the band immediately after the recording was complete. The album reached #108 on the US charts with singles of Loud Love and Hands All Over.

Aussie band formed in 1997 while in high school. They have won some Australian awards and this album actually came out down under last summer but is just now being released in the U.S. Not sure about the U.K. Lead singer Ian Kenny is the only remaining original member. Tool would be the closest comparison to me. A little too heavy which drug my rating down. That's what heaviness does. Singles have been released of Set Fire To The Hive and All I Know.

Formed in Missouri in 1995 as Big Blue Monkey, later changed to Story Of The Year, it was a long time till their major label debut in 2003, which yielded some minor sucess with the single of Until The Day I Die. Four albums later this may be the breakthrough as this album has debuted at #42 on the U.S. charts, and the first single of I'm Alive is getting heavy airplay. A couple of good tracks for me but it just barely gets a passing grade. I'm a hard sell.

California band formed in 1998 with their 5th album. Founder and frontman Matt Pike is the former guitarist for stoner metal band Sleep. Currently a 3 piece with Jeff Matz and Des Kensel. Other former members have flew the coop. This is produced by Greg Fidleman who has produced for Metallica and Slayer. Did nothing for me as most of these metal bands don't, but I still listen. Single is out of Frost Hammer. Bastard Samurai started out ok, but it didn't last long.

This is an import of a remastered 1976's Vol. 4, with a bonus track of a live version of Children Of The Grave from Masters Of Reality, hence the title I guess. Very good quality. Thing is, it doesn't even say where it's imported from. What if I wanted to honor the country that produced this by paying a visit? Where would I go? I'm confused. Absolutely no liner notes describing the origin of these tracks. Like I said, Vol. 4.

American christian metal band from Washington started by brothers Don and Ryan Clark. Don has since left the band to, I don't know, worship Satan or something maybe. This is their 5th album. Not as bad as some of the genre I've heard, but still not in my ballpark. Are you surprised? A few tracks do border on having a melody. Some aren't bad at all till those lead vocals kick in.
Collapsing is the first single.
