I couldn't pick just one so I put other - because I either want to put metal or electronic, since those are my two favourites and it's impossible for me to decide between them.

I picked Metal, cause most of what I listen to is metal or some offspring of metal...

I have some theories about what the results suggest, but would like to hear what others have to say first, if anything...

I think the survey relates well to what people discuss the most on the site. It also suggests that people don't favour pop music.

Along the lines of what you said. According to the survey, there aren't many pop, rap, or country fans on MD, even as those seem to be the most popular on the radio and TV. That may suggest that MD, and perhaps other music sites, tend to draw musically alienated people who are fed up with what's out there, and are searching for something else.

Another one is that pop is one of those things many people don't want to admit they like, so they redefine the music they listen to as something else, even though it could probably be classified as pop, because it's popular and marketed to a mainstream audience. For example, in the 90s, everything was marketed as "alternative", even though a lot of it was pop.

I kind of lean towards the folk music, but there isn't really a category for that. Although I really do listen to some of just about every genre in the poll (and then some), however in any given genre I can be a terribly picky listener.

I have to say mostly metal, but I am a picky metal fan, if I can not understand the singer at all it turns me off really quick. Which would be why I like instrumental music so much, also I like Hard rock but mostly I listen almost everything for time to time
