    Default Jean Michel Jarre

    Hi,

I'm sure many of you have heared his name. He is now among of those 70s classics, who revolutionised electronic music, fusion somewhere between experimental and pop music.

The biggest shows ever...first ever western musician in post-Mao China (not Wham!, as many know!!), Houston in 1986...Paris, London, Hongkong, Moscow, Egypt, Beijing...

just to speak about the biggest ones...Oxygene, Equinoxe, Magnetic Fields, Zoolook, Chronologie, Oxygene 7-13, Metamorphoses.

He is now prepairing tour of 2010.

    A press release

« I listened to all of Jean Michel Jarre’s albums obsessively, to the point of knowing every note by heart. His music accompanied me as I wrote « 2010 : Odyssey Two ». His concerts are always a celebration of wonderment… »

Sir Arthur C. Clarke, futurist, cult science fiction author of 2001 and 2010.

Jean Michel Jarre wished to pay tribute to this legendary, literary giant in giving the title of « 2010 » to his world tour which debuted six months ago to full houses in the United Kingdom, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Holland, Poland…and to audiences of all generations.

One word welcomed him on the road: Pioneer. Today, Jean Michel Jarre is synonymous with Myth. Oxygene, Equinoxe, Magnetic Fields, but also Deserted Palace or Zoolook imposed a visionary genre of music of which we can find influences of amongst many artists, from Air to Daft Punk, Moby or The Chemical Brothers.

His concerts are also part of the Jarre myth. Those who have had the opportunity to witness these exceptional events that have marked his career, from China to Houston, London Docklands to the Great Pyramids of Egypt… will forever remember these extraordinary events.

To partake in this incredible experience, Jarre has decided to revisit his « all-in-one-show » concept, by integrating the very latest technology in sound, light and special effects for an outstanding result.

A unique opportunity to live, or relive, an extraordinary moment.

    some news:

"2010 is off to a great start. Not that 2009 was bad, but 2010 is one step above.. After the 2009 tour ended, I wanted to evolve the concept a bit, to give a new meaning to the music, moving moods, bright and somber passages.. It will be quite different, and quite special. The new tracklisting is really powerful now, and I have been working with Marie-Jeanne, Thomas and Ignace to give it the visual force it deserves. There is still a lot of work, but we have a solid base, a solid team and fresh energy after the holidays. The promotion has already started, and I'm glad we have some interesting press articles.
The new concept also gave me inspiration for new tracks that I want to try, refine and sharpen during the tour, with a new album in mind later this year.. That and a few other surprises..
Another exciting change in 2010 is 3D. As you know I have been experimenting with 3D concerts for over a decade, so I'm observing with curiosity how Avatar is changing the movie industry. It is like the beginning of 5.1 for sound: sweat, pain but a whole new opportunity. I am working on a special 3D project linked to the 2010 concerts..

I hope 2010 will be as thrilling for you as it is for me. Thanks for all your kind comments, and happy new year to you all. Specially to you, yes, you. "

    Concert list modified above.

Jarre concerts to be filmed with 3-D Avatar cameras

Two concerts next month by French electronic music pioneer Jean Michel Jarre are to be filmed in 3-D with the same cameras used to shoot James Cameron's sci-fi blockbuster "Avatar", the musician said Wednesday.

In a telephone interview from Belgium, where he is rehearsing, Jarre told AFP he had been contacted by Panasonic, which developed the cameras for the 3-D opus, to film the concerts and record in high-definition sound.

The film of the two concerts in Strasbourg and Liege, Belgium, will be "released in 3-D and 2-D later in the year," he said.

3-D, he added, "is an important a revolution as going from black-and-white to colour".

One of a few electronic musicians that I like.
Equinoxe 4 is the best thing ever made in music in my opinion!

I have one album from him, Teo & Tea, that I really like. Next I will probably try Equinoxe 4 as the poster above said it was the best music ever.

I've yet to find an electronic work to beat 'Oxygene'. I'm not a fan of everything Tangerine Dream have done but their 'White Eagle' album is great.

White Eagle is another style, not an Oxygene...2 different ones.

I myself think nothing can beat Oxygene, on it's own.

US dates are being scheduled, once I get know confirmed dates, I'll inform this board.

Not quite electronic but you should listen to 'The Songs of Distant Earth' by Mike Oldfield. I think you will like it. Arthur C Clarke did!
