New country music duo Steel Magnolia is all about collaboration and keeping the love alive.
Made up of Meghan Linsey and Joshua Scott Jones, Steel Magnolia is enjoying a rapid rise to success.
After winning CMT's "Can You Duet?" last year, their debut single, "Keep on Lovin’ You," landed a spot in the soundtrack of the movie "Valentine’s Day,” and is climbing Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart -- currently in the Top 15.
Their five-song EP, titled "Steel Magnolia," hit stores last Tuesday and includes tracks "Ooh La La" and "Edge of Goodbye," as well as live performances of "I Need You" and "Fast as You." They are currently working on their debut album, slated to hit stores this summer.
The dynamic duo, who've been a couple off-state for three years, stopped by "The Early Show Saturday Edition"’s” Second Cup Café to perform their hit single, "Keep on Lovin’ You".
Steel Magnolia is also a 2010 Academy of Country Music Award Nominee for Top New Vocal Duo.
Their collaboration began in Nashville, the "Mecca" of country music.
Linsey moved to Nashville from Ponchatoula, La., while Jones moved there from from Charleston, Ill., both pursuing solo careers.
They met at a karaoke bar while Linsey was working one night. They started performing together and decided to enter CMT's "Can You Duet?" after some convincing from a friend.
The duo tried their hand at "American Idol," but lost. They both auditioned for the popular TV singing contest and didn’t make it past the first round.
Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees
Send me off forever but I ask you please
Don't fence me in
