    Talking Top 5 Classical Composers

We have a top 5 thread for all other genres. So why not Classical.

    Mine would be, in no particular order;
    • Vivaldi
    • Strauss
    • Debussy
    • Saint Seans
    • Ravel
    Anyone else care to join?
    With Regards...

Nice response. I don't know any of these composers, what would you consider their best works?

Default Not all "Classical" Composers are Classical

After I listed my top 5 "Classical" composers, I realized that only one of them was actually Classical.

    Here's the breakdown:

    Rachmaninoff Russian late Romanticism
    Chopin Romantic
    Debussy Modern, Impressionist
Beethoven On the cusp of Romantic leading away from Classical
    Mozart Classical

Although the term Classical is used so broadly anyway, I don't know if I'm being too geeky about this...

Does this mean we have to have more genres?
