Oddly enough, I was just listening to Melvins' Houdini earlier today. It's hard for me to believe that this wasn't a more successful album during its day. I guess that they never were as accessible as Nirvana though.

For the record, I was a Nirvana fan during their short stay at the top and actually do still enjoy those albums today. I'm a big fan of In Utero and personally feel as if Serve the Servants is one of the better album openers of all time. I just think that those first couple of lines are a tremendous way to follow up Nevermind.

Mudhoney is actually the band coined the term "grunge" in the 80s. The embody the term still today. It's kinda silly though, all it is is good old fashion rock and roll.

And I agree that sludge and stoner metal picked up where grunge left off.

    Great thread by the way.

Yeah, i'm pretty sure Mudhoney created Grunge. Nirvana's album 'Nevermind' launched into the mainstream, and bands like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Alice In Chains added to its popularity.
In my opinion, Nirvana was an amazing band - they combined several genres into one to great effect.
    Favourite songs are:
    1. Stay Away
    2. Radio Friendly Unit Shifter
    3. Aneurysm
